Stories and strings
My name is Richie, and welcome to my business page!
I’ve been playing guitar from a young age, but I also had a passion for working with my hands.
My first job was as a car mechanic, which I did for 10 years. But on the side I become intrigued (addicted) to guitar making videos. I watched Stewmac tool demos by Dan Erlewine and the others at Stewmac as well as the Luthier tips du jour videos by Robbie O’Brien.
So, in my spare time I would set myself up in my family’s garden (full of roses, might become relevant later) and starting making my very first guitars.
Then of course 2020 happened… in that time I was furloughed from work, and with the extra spare time and boredom, I decided (with permission of course) to build myself a 3m x 4m shed in the back garden. With my new workshop I had invested a lot into tooling and practice, and I kept thinking about making this my living one day.
This is when I came across the Prince’s Trust (now King’s Trust) Enterprise Program. With the help of the staff I managed to learn all about making a business and eventually made a business plan that seemed to make others believe it was viable, so I was given a Prince’s Trust Grant!
Now let’s see where I go from here.
